An Oregon teen has gone viral after tearfully pleading with local politicians to help protect his community from ICE raids.
16-year-old Manny Chavez told Hillsboro City Council members that he couldn’t focus on school work over fears that people he loved could be taken while he was in class, despite their legal status.
The high school junior would later tell local news that he wasn’t planning on speaking but felt compelled to speak after hearing other people’s testimonies and hoped he wouldn’t be targeted for putting his face out there.
