Malaysian fishermen rescued a Rohingya woman at sea on Saturday (Nov 8) after a boat carrying dozens of migrants capsized off Langkawi island. One of the fishermen said they spotted her drifting motionless about two nautical miles from shore before realizing she was still alive. They pulled her onto their boat and gave her food and water before alerting the authorities.

From FISHERMAN WHO RESCUED ROHINGYA SURVIVOR “At first, she didn’t move at all. She was just still. We were wondering what it was. It looked like a person. When we got closer, she suddenly moved, and that’s when we realized it was a person. We became flustered because we had never come across anything like that in the sea before. After that, we brought her onto the boat. We gave her food and water, then a blanket so she could sit and rest. After that, we called the maritime authorities to come and take her. “
