On October 24, 2015, a video from Syria spread across the Internet so horrific even Harding War reporters couldn’t finish watching it. It showed a 19 year old soldier named Fadi, with his hands tied behind his back, wearing the same orange jumpsuit that a violent extremist group forced on older victims. Guys, he was just a kid, barely out of high school, serving in Syrian Air Force intelligence was when that group captured him near Homs. They tried to interrogate him, demanded information, but when he refused, they decided to make an example out of him. Cameras rolling, they dragged him into an open field as armed militants surrounded him.
Foddy stayed calm, silent, staring straight ahead, knowing exactly what was coming. Then a tank rolled into the frame, its massive threads grinding through the dirt, its size almost surreal compared to his body. And guys, holy shit. His body was like this small and the tank was this big. Like, oh my goodness, the size difference was just insane. And guys, Vaati tried to hop away, like, you can see him in the video, like hopping like a bunny. And he actually made a bit of distance, but it didn’t matter. And this is where the nightmare truly begins, brah. The tank lunged forward, its metal threads crushing his body, bone snapping as the ground turned red beneath him.
The entire machine rolled over him, completely disappearing into a cloud of dust and smoke. When it finally cleared, his body was unrecognizable and flattened, motionless on the ground. In the background, you can see the militant shearing arms, raced in victory, celebrating like it was a birthday. And then the video cuts. It was later confirmed this was the first time that extremist group ever used a tank to kill someone.
