A man accused of killing someone over a gold chain in North Miami Beach and then posing with it in selfies is now on trial. Surveillance video and witness testimony are central to the case.

Surveillance video captured when two men with guns pulled up on 21 year old Malcolm Johnson Jr. To steal his gold necklace. As one man fought the victim, the other appeared to pick up the victim’s items from the floor. The robbery turned to murder. When the thieves started shooting, the victim collapsed. As the killers drove away, he took his chain, he took his wallet, and he took his life. The defendant, Marcus Ely, murdered Malcolm Avery Johnson Jr. While robbing him at gunpoint. Prosecutors say Marcus Ely pulled the trigger.

He was arrested after his own brother, a police officer in Georgia, turned him in. Today, the siblings went face to face in front of jurors. Who is this person fighting? It’s my brother. Your brother? What’s the name of your brother? Marcus. Are you sure he’s over there? Positive. Investigators say the shooting was over this gold necklace. After fleeing the scene, the 23 year old allegedly took the medallion to his girlfriend to snap these selfies.

Pictures show the couple posing hours after the murder. These pictures were taken hours after he just murdered someone and he’s celebrating. He’s showing it off, putting up selfies. His girl looks so good with this cash in the medallion, like a trophy. Ely, however, denies he is a killer and insists police have the wrong man. This case is about misidentification. This case is about another person committing this act.
